Etymology The specific epithet dubia is the feminine of the Latin adjective dubius, meaning 'uncertain' or 'doubtful', and refers to the doubtful status of the new species at the time of its description (Tebble, 1955: 123). As Scoloplos is masculine the mandatory gender agreement requires the name to be 'dubius' [details]
Habitat Not stated. Subtidal depths. [details]
Homonymy When the mandatory correction to 'dubius' is made for 'dubia' then Scoloplos dubius Tebble (1953) is junior primary homonym to Scoloplos (Naidonereis) dubius Augener, 1914, and thus invalid. The subgenus is irrelevant to the homonymy (article 57.4) [details]
Type locality East Atlantic, Gulf of Guinea, Ghana, off Accra (geocoordinates not provided, estimated with gazetteer to be approximately lat. 5.53º, long. -0.18º). [details]
