Etymology The specific epithet brevicirrata is composed by the Latin prefix brevi-, meaning 'short' or 'shorten', and cirrata, feminine of the Latin adjective cirratus and meaning 'fringed' or 'having cirri', and refers to the short length of the dorsal cirri. [details]
Habitat Intertidal beach, among Fucaceae and coralline algae in seawater ponds. [details]
Specimen Specimens collected at Saint-Vaast-la-Hougue (France) by Claparède between July and September 1861. [details]
Taxonomy Genus uncertain. According to Fauvel (1923: 327), it is probably an Exogone which has lost its median antenna: "est probablement un Exogone ayant perdu son antenne médiane" (Fauvel, 1923: 327). [details]
Type locality Atlantic Ocean, France, Normandie, Saint-Vaast-la-Hougue (geocoordinates not provided, estimated with gazetteer to be approximately lat. 49.583º, long. -1.262º), beach at low tide, among Fucaceae and coralline algae in seawater ponds. [details]
