Etymology The specific epithet flava is the feminine of the Latin adjective flavus, meaning 'yellow' or 'golden', and refers to the lemon yellow color of the species ("citrongelb"; Grube, 1868: 52). [details]

Taxonomy Questionably moved to genus Autolytus by Fauvel (1923: 327). Nygren (2004: 199-200) revised the holotype (ZMB Q.4378) and stated that the species did not belong to Autolytinae, due to "ventral cirri present, pharynx straight, hexagonal muscle cells", and that it could be an Eusyllinae.
