Taxonomy From Day (1954: 29): "Hessle [1917] states that the main difference [of Trichobranchus glacialis antarcticus] from the European form (T. glacialis) is the absence of eyes, but it is noted here [with base on specimens from Tristan da Cunha] that the antarctic species also has fewer teeth on the uncini (two arcs of 6–8 each as against two rows of 10 and 20 respectively) and I feel that these differences warrant species rank."
