Taxonomy Moved to different genus [details]
Type locality Pallas states the two specimens described came from respectively the coast of Bengal, India, and Ambon Island (Amboyna) Indonesia, two widely separated locations. The Bengal specimen was in the collection of J. A. Schlosser, Amsterdam, found on a merchant ship's anchor, and the Ambon specimen was in the collection of Ed. Heer van Hoey, Gravenhage (= The Hague). McIntosh (1885: 8) repeats details showing that the provenance was split between two countries, but does not question the identifications (his own specimens were from Japan). Quatrefages gave the locality as 'mers de la Chine', and Hartman catalogue as Indian Ocean for the Chloeia combination. She also incorrectly indicated "location not given" for the original Aphrodita combination. [details]
