Synonymy Questionably synonym of species listed, Branchiosyllis exilis (Gravier, 1900). [details]
Taxonomy Species uncertain. Augener (1913) stated that Syllis solida was very similar to Branchiosyllis exilis (Gravier, 1900), and that the two species could be synonymous. Fauvel (1917) considered this synonymy as doubtful, and this position was followed by other authors, like Hartman (1959). Finally, in the absence of type material Licher (1999) considered the species as a nomen dubium. [details]
Type locality Probably Singapore ("Wahrscheinlich Singapore"; Grube, 1878: VII, 121) (geocoordinates not provided, estimated with gazetteer to be approximately lat. 1.22, long. 103.74). Grube (1878: VI) also refers the presence of the species at Zamboanga (Mindanao Island, Philippines; collected in September 1859), but authors have considered the type locality as being Singapore.
