Synonymy According to Carrette & Nogueira (2013) P. habitats differs from P. clavatus in having notopodia extending to segment 17 (i.e., 15 pairs) and neuropodia beginning on segment 9 (an additional difference mentioned in their key is the presence of both limbate and pinnate notochaetae in P. clavatus. However, Glasby and Hutchings (2014) observed that P. clavatus only has pinnate notochaetae like P. habitats. Also, Glasby and Hutchings (2014) made a comparison between the holotype of Cyaxares clavatus Kinberg, 1867 and the comprehensive description of P. habitats in Carrerette & Nogueira (2013), support that these species are synonyms [details]
