Etymology The specific epithet pectinans is the Latin word for 'combing', and refers to the fringe of unusually long spines present along the cutting edge of the unidentate blades of the composed chaetae, resembling combs. [details]
Habitat Amongst intertidal tubes of the serpulid Galeolaria hystrix. [details]
Reproduction Ripe females with ovaries purple in colour and present about the 30th to the 40th segments, backwards the stolon, of about 20 to 25 segments, beginning at about segment 40th or 50th. Ripe males with stolons of bright red, pink or scarlet colour, consisting of about 20 segments with dilated nephridia packed with sperms in rounded groups. [details]
