Taxonomic remark This is not Mycale plumosa sensu Tanita (1956), Hoshino (1981), Tanita & Hoshino (1998) or Kim et al. (1968), as these records are for specimens lacking isochelae, see Van Soest et al. (2021: 183). The subgenus of the specimens described by these authors is not yet established with certainty, and the specimens are currently (2025) listed as Mycale (Aegogropila) plumosa sensu Hoshino, 1981 on account of the presence of a tangential skeleton.
