Taxonomy Damirina laccadivensis is mentioned casually in Thomas (1989: 152) as differing from other Damirina in having the acanthostrongyles irregularly spined in stead of verticillatedly. This feature has been demonstrated to be variable within and between specimens of Damirina verticillata (= Zyzzya fuliginosa), thus it is proposed to synonymize the present species with Z. fuliginosa despite the inadequate description.
