From editor or global species database
Lectotype The lectotype of Chalinopsis clathrodes from the Copenhagen Museum (ZMUC) was first indicated and figured in Van Soest, 2002: 823, fig. 3A. Before this, the only material discussed in the literature appeared after Schmidt, 1870 was a fragment in the Strasbourg museum, presumably taken from the present Copenhagen Museum specimen, see Topsent, 1920: 22, and some slides with dubious value for typification discussed by Wiedenmayer, 1977: 131. Wiedenmayer's suggestion that there should be a type specimen in Harvard is not correct, as the MCZ database online does not mention the presence in its collection of Chalinopsis clathrodes. The conclusion is so far that the Copenhagen specimen is the lectotype and the Strasbourg fragment is a schizolectotype. Slides made from the lectotype are at least kept in the csponge collections of Strasbourg, Paris and Amsterdam. This is important because several studies of Caribbean Agelas species apparently mistook the species for specimens of A. citrina or A. sventres, see Parra-Velandia et al. 2014: 327-329. [details]
