Nomenclature Burton (1963: 576) pointed out that this name was already proposed by Dendy & Row (1913: 727) as authored by 'Row MS ?1913' without a description. The definitive description appeared in Row & Hozawa's 1931 paper. The Dendy & Row name is a nomen nudum and unavailable, but subsequent use of the combination by Row & Hôzawa fixed the name with their authorship and date. We refrain from listing the nomen nudum separately. A complication is that Dendy & Row spelled the species slightly different: vitrea whereas Row & Hôzawa spelled it as vitraea. The latter spelling is here adopted, because vitrea is an unavailable name. [details]
