From editor or global species database
Taxonomy Samaai et al. (2006) list the type of this species as a 'new assignment' to Sigmosceptrella carlinae (Boury-Esnault & van Beveren, 1982) (originally Latrunculia) without further explanation. If this 'assignment' would be correct, then the name clavigera would have had priority over carlinae. Moreover, an earlier assignment of Latrunculia clavigera was made by Hiemstra & Van Soest, 1991, as a junior synonym of Didiscus aceratus (Ridley & Dendy, 1886). Latruncila carlinae was discussed by Sim-Smith et al. 2016 and reassigned to the genus Neopodospongia, without reference to clavigera. We will here follow Hiemstra & Van Soest's assignment to Didiscus aceratus. [details]From other sources
