Taxonomy Laubenfels (1936) recorded Carter's European species Terpios coerulea (= Terpios gelatinosa) from Florida. From Laubenfels' description it is clear that he did not have a Terpios on hand, but clearly a Hymeniacidon, later described by Pulitzer-Finali (1986) as H. caerulea. [details]
