Taxonomy Breitfuss (1898) identified a specimen from Chile (Punta Arenas) as Sycon raphanus var. proboscidea. It is probably another species, as Sycon proboscideum (Haeckel, 1870) is a species from the Red Sea. So we assume it to be an undescribed species. [details]
