Taxonomy The Archasteridae has been in the synonymy of the Benthopectinidae, but is now restricted to Archaster typicus in the Indo-Pacific. Archaster is in the synonymy of several benthopectinid genera, such as Cheiraster (many subgenera) and Pontaster. [details]
