Diagnosis Emended diagnosis by Salazar-Vallejo et al. (2007: 466): ''Body with or without a cephalic hood. Integument papillated, mostly deprived of foreign particles (except Flabelliseta). Nuchal organs marginal ciliated bands, rarely in zigzag, or ω-shaped. Branchiae few, restricted to anterior segments, first two segments achaetous, carrying branchiae. Chaetae elongate, mostly simple notopodial spinigers, rarely without notochaetae, and compound neuropodial falcigers, rarely with simple neurochaetae. Most chaetae with a cortex carrying successive rings of denticles, sometimes eroded exposing a smooth core. Genital spines present in one genus (Acrocirrus). Mostly benthic forms, few pelagic species.'' [details]Unreviewed
