Diagnosis Radial elements are compact costosepta, almost free. Costosepta bicuneiform, generally straight, sometimes curved according to the bilateral plan. Lateral faces smooth or displaying equal granules, regularly distributed in all directions. Distal margin smooth. The inner edge of septa shows strong periodical structures with ? auriculae. Mainly based on Ironella, the microstructure, typically neorhipidacanth, is conceived as indicated in the following figure from Roniewicz, 1976 Trabeculae are branching with numerous secondary trabeculae. Septa and corresponding costae are generally arranged in well defined size order.  [details]
