Description (Interpreted from the original description) Phaceloid corallum. Calice exsert. Thin occasional epitheca. Radial elements thin and numerous, pennular and perforate. Synapticule present. Circular fossa in the center. Wall rudimentary or absent. [details]Remark Two nominal species were described by Fromentel (1861) but never used after him (Fromentel 1865). According to Vaughan and Wells (1943), Disaraea would be like Dermoseris but with an extratentacular budding. The Fromentel's text (the only thing we have) explains that the budding of D. cotteaui occurs at the edge of the calice or on the calice itself. Then Disaraea is potentially a senior synonym of Dermoseris. As it has never been used for other samples than those of Fromentel, it is preferable to keep this genus into oblivion. [details]
