Comparison In skeleton structure (confluent and regularly porous radial elements, synapticulae, endotheca) similar to Actinaraeopsis, from which it differs in calices delimited from the perithecal colony tissue. [details]

Description The type species described and illustrated in Becker and Milaschewitsch (1876: pl. 51, fig. 4); photo of the calicular surface in Geyer 1954: pl. 14, fig. 4 (small magnification); description and illustrations of the structure in thin sections in Roniewicz 1966: pl. 25, figs 2, 3 and Roniewicz 1976: pl.23, fig. 3a,b. [details]

Diagnosis Thamnasterioid, lamellate colony with small calices delimited from extracalicular perithecal tissue. Radial elements structurally, regularly perforated, confluent. In the calice septal trabeculae inclined toward the center, in the peritheca trabeculae vertical. Columella papillar, made of a few trabeculae. Synapticulae in the peritheca, abundant. Endothecal elements tabuloid, traversing large parts of the colony. [details]

Remark Three species known from the Late Jurassic, A. granulata d’Orbigny, 1849 the most commonly cited in the literature. As Camptodocis Dietrich, 1926, known from the Early Cretaceous from East Africa, re-described and illustrated by Loeser, 2008. [details]

Status Junior subjective synonym is Camptodocis Dietrich, 1926. [details]
