Remark Oppenheim (1930) created the genus Maeandrella for the species Meandrina michelini Reuss, 1854. Later, M. Beauvais (1982) chose the same specimen as the type species of his new genus Maeandrofungia. Therefore, the latter represents the junior synonym (nomen vanum) of the genus Maeandrella Oppenheim, 1930. In 1956 Wells stated that Maeandrella Oppenheim, 1930, represented a junior homonym. Later, he revised this statement and accepted Oppenheim's genus (Wells, 1986). [details]
