Comparison From related genus Archaeosmilia Melnikova differs in phaceloid growth form. [details]Description Development of the septal apparatus was analysed based on multiple transverse sections, and the process illustrated in a series of the following pictures in Melnikova 1975: pl. 2: 1, 3, 4a,4б. Septa wedge-like, differentiated into three size orders distributed after six-fold symmetry; the S1 septa thick and reaching the center, but not coalescing; the S2 septa shorter and slightly thinner; the S3 septa observed in adult corallites, about one-third of the S1 in length. Endotheca made of tabuloid and vesicular dissepiments. Microstructural traces in the form of a dark mid-septal line. Septal faces smooth [details]
