Taxonomy Because P. bogaraveo is the type-host of E. pagelli (Van Beneden and Hesse 1863), we were at first tempted to suggest a synonymy between E. vallei and E. pagelli. However, we refrained from doing so as E. pagelli was first described from the Atlantic coast off Brest,
