Etymology The new species is named after Kaja Magdalena Weigmann, the daughter of the first author, who had her first contact with chondrichthyan taxonomy when observing with great interest the examination of Pliotrema specimens for the present study. The name “Kaja” also has the Frisian meaning “warrior”, referring to the saw-like rostrum. [details]
