Etymology The species is named after the mythical shapeshifting monster “Lagahoo” (also known as “Ligahoo” or “Lugarhou”) from the folklore of Trinidad and Tobago, the location where the species was found. According to the legend, Lagahoo can shapeshift into various creatures, which resembles the different trunk shapes reported herein for the species. [details]
