Description Massive subceroid or astreoid to meandroid corallum. Lower face without holotheca. Radial elements are compact, rather free, non confluent or subconfluent, straight to curved unequal in length. Distal edge with acute or rounded strong equal teeth, lateral faces with granules connected in opposite carinae perpendicular to the distal edge. Montlivaltid microstructure. No pali. Radial and bilateral symmetry (occasionally opposite septa joining the columella). Abundant vesiculose endotheca. Lamellar columella, polytrabecular in microstructure. No synapticule. Wall absent or incomplete. [details]
Diagnosis Like Isastrea but with a lamellar columella and absent or incomplete wall. [details]
Remark The genus seems to be very close of Isastrea. The "absence" of wall is something possible in the normal variability of this genus. Nevertheless the lamellar columella is a distinctive character. Three potential species (see Lathuilière 2000 and Morsch 2001). [details]
