Spelling Fuchs (1870) used two spellings, unioides (plate caption) and unoides (heading of species description). Since Fuchs intended the species name as a reference to the similarly shaped unionid bivalves, the correct spelling must be unioides, while unoides is an inadvertent error. The name unionides (as used e.g. by Harzhauser & Mandic 2010) is an incorrect subsequent spelling. [details]
