The benthic foraminifers from the White Chalk of the lsle of Rügen (Lower Maastrichtian, Northeastern Germany). - The Isle of Rügen is the type locality of foraminifers described by HAGENOW (1842), REUSS (1862), MARSSON (1878), and FRANKE (1925, 1928). The taxonomy, palaeoecology and stratigraphy of the associations of benthic foraminifers is revised. The foraminiferal fauna is rich and well preserved. A total of 231 species from 103 genera is described and figured. Eight species (Cribrebella obtusa, Favolagena supracretacea, Procerolagena fistulae, Pygmaeoseistron cretaceum, Bolivina pumila, Epistominitella minuta, Ruegenia [read Rugenella] rara, Dublinia? auricula) and two genera (Ruegenia [read Rugenella], Morozovia) are described as new.
