Nomenclature Marphysa is feminine gender, therefore the geographic adjectival species-group suffix is '-ensis' (masculine and feminine) and not '-ense' (neuter). Under Code article 31.2, Agreement in gender (and article 34.2 Mandatory changes), a Latinized adjective must agree in gender with the generic name. The other three geographic names created by the authors are correctly '-ensis', but inexplicably the fourth species was published assigned an incorrect suffix. The WoRMS database must use the correct suffix, but we have recorded the incorrect original suffix in a separate entry for the purposes of alerting users to the error. [details]
