Fusulinid-bearing, well-bedded black bituminous limestones associated with black shales and micaceous sandstones crop out in the Hatahoko area of Nyukawa Village, Ono County, Gifu Prefecture, central Japan. The sediments apparently show that they accumulated uncer a partially restricted sea. Several fusulinids collected from the lower part of the Sote Formation are described, and a faunal assemblage dissimilar to that of the Shiroi Formation, reported in my previous paper (Igo, 1964a), is discussed. The following fusulinid species are new: Pseudofusulina isomie, Schwagerina hawkinsiformis, S. ishiie, Parafusulina sublineata and P. takanoe.
