Habitat Kupriyanova et al (2009): "Marifugia cavatica is endemic to most of the Dinaric Karst (a region that extends from northeastern Italy to northern Albania) where its tubes are found attached to cave walls in small lakes, slow- or fast-running streams and may live solitary, in small groups, or creating very large aggregations."
