Longmenshan lies in the northwest of Sichuan Province, there the Early Carboniferous Zongchanggou Group, about 130m thick, mainly composed of limestone with some sandy mudstone and preserved with large amounts of corals, brachiopods and foraminifers, can be divided into two parts separated by a pure red clayish sandstone bed.The upper part is rich in fossil Foraminifera, containing the Endothyranopsis crassus-Plectogyra korbensis Assemblage, which includes such main members as Endothyranopsis crassus, E. yangchunensis, Palaeotextularia oblonga, Eotubritina reittingerae, Cribrospira tenella sp. nov., Mediocris rnediocris, Plectogyra posneri, P. praesimilis, Lituotubella glomospiroides, Dainella elegantula and D. sichuanensis sp. nov. The horizon yielding this assemblage might correspond to the Datangian Stage (Visean). The lower part probably corresponds to the Aikuanian Stage (Tournaisian), including two assemblages in ascending order as follows:1) Quasiendothyra communis-Tournayella sichuanensis Assemblage, with such main members as Quasiendothyra communis, Parathurammina sulemanovi, Archaesphaera crassa and Tournayella sichuanensis sp. nov.2) Septatournayella rauserae-Endothyra tenuiseptata Assemblage, with such main members as Septatuornayella rauserae, Parathurammina suleimanovi, Endothyra tenuiseptatat Glomospira ezhwadorica and Glomospiranella sp.The present paper deals with a total mumber of 29 genera with 85 species, including 9 new species and 3 indeterminate species.
