Four new morphospecies of the rotifer family Dicranophoridae are described from the littoral of two neighbouring high altitude lakes in the Austrian Alps. Three of them belong to Encentrum (E. alpinum sp. nov., E. desmeti sp. nov. and E. goldschmidi sp. nov.), one represents a new genus (Glaciera schabetsbergeri gen. et sp. nov.), which is characterized by a highly modified trophi morphology. The records highlight our poor knowledge of high altitude rotifers and support the idea of alpine endemicity in this group.
