Type species Beside Conus cancellatus Hwass, 1792, Thiele included (in the legends to figs 461-462) a second species in Conasprella: Conus torquatus Martens, 1901. Cotton (1945, Records of the South Australian Museum, 8(2): 271) stated that C. cancellatus, was the type species of Conasprella. Under Art. 69.1.1, Cotton is deemed to have designated C. cancellatus as the type species. Tucker & Tenorio recognized that Thiele had misidentified Conus pagodus as C. cancellatus and, acting under Art. 70.3.2, they fixed C. pagodus as the type species of Conasprella. [details]
