Distribution Known only from the type locality in the northeastern part of the Gulf of Mexico. [details]
Etymology The species epithet purus (Latin for 'simple,' 'plain') refers to the lack of penial setae, and to the single unpaired atria and spermathecae, in this species. All congeners have penial setae, and all but one (U. granulothecus) have paired genitalia. [details]
