Teichertina Veevers, of the Middle Devonian and early Late Devonian, has been a taxonomic problem since it was first proposed. Publication of illustrations of a species of Dicaelosia King that is temporally and morphologically intermediate between Teichertina and ordinary Dicaelosia provided an initial indication that Teichertina was derived from Dicaelosia. An analysis of comparative morphology of these two genera demonstrates the probability that Teichertina belongs with Dicaelosia and Epitomyonia in the family Dicaelosiidae.
