Magelana magnahamata, new species, is described based on specimens found during a study of interstitial polychaetes carried out at Coiba National Park (Panamá). It differs from other species of Magelona with regard to features of chaetiger 9, hooded hooks on anterior abdominal segments, and coloration pattern. Specimens of this new species coincide widely with specimens from the Gulf of Mexico reported and described previously as Magelona sp. C.
