Homonymy According to Blake (2000: 135 footnote), as Oncoscolex (Eumenia) heterochaetus Augener, 1906 was a synonym of Kebuita glabra (Ehlers, 1887) and the latter was referred to Asclerocheilus, the species Asclerocheilus heterochaetus Blake & Kudenov, 1978 became a junior homonym of Oncoscolex heterochaetus Augener, 1906. For this reason the claimed junior secondary homonym was renamed by Blake (2000) as Asclerocheilus victoriensis. However, the secondary homonymy does not exist as the name combination "Asclerocheilus heterochaetus (Augener, 1906)" has never entered nomenclature. Accordingly A. victoriensis is a superfluous replacement name for A. heterochaetus. See Asclerocheilus heterochaetus Blake & Kudenov, 1978 for a longer explanation. [G Read, August 2024] [details]
