Etymology Neogyptis julii named for Julio Harvey (MBARI), based on his nickname ‘juli’ [details]
Taxonomy Neogyptis julii is similar to N. plurisetis (Hilbig, 1992)(type locality in the Gulf of Mexico), but differs in having stouter palpostyles, in lacking abundant papillae on the terminal end of the proboscis and having smaller and less pigmented eye spots (paraphrased from authors). [details]
