A new species of earthworm, Vignysa vedovinii n. sp. (Hormogastridae), is described from Provence. On the basis of genetic and morphological evidence, the new species Hormogaster gallica n. sp. is also proposed for two French populations of H. pretiosa Michaelsen. Supplementary taxonomic characters for the Hormogastridae are provided.
