Diagnosis Test large, up to 8 mm or 9 mm in diameter, discoidal to lenticular, single median layer of chambers in a loose evolute planispiral coil with intervening canaliferous shell material, double septa formed by infolding of the thin inner wall layer and enclosing intraseptal canals, septal flaps lack perforations, spiral and radial canals present; wall calcareous, thin inner layer finely perforate and thick outer layer coarsely perforate, pillars perpendicular to the surface, spiral laminae extend to the poles as new chambers added, tightly fused so that all are perforated by the canals, surface may have depressed spiral suture and surface papillae at the ends of the pillars.
