In 1908, Böhmig introduced the generic name for Rimicola for a new species of marine flatworm, tentatively considered a member of the acoelan family Isodiametridae (e.g., see Atherton & Jondelius, 2021) Likely unknown to Böhmig (1908), the generic name Rimicola was preoccupied within Animalia by Rimicola Jordan & Evermann in Jordan, 1896, a valid genus of marine fishes of the family Gobiescoidae (Briggs, 1955; Conway et al., 2020). This renders Rimicola Böhmig, 1908 a junior homonym of Rimicola Jordan & Evermann in Jordan, 1896. Following Article 60 of the International Code of Zoological Nomenclature (ICZN, 1999) we herein provide a replacement name for Rimicola Böhmig, 1908.
