During the survey of microturbellarians taxonomic diversity of the Middle Volga region water bodies (within the Republic of Tatarstan), five species that are new to the Volga basin fauna were found (Macrostomum lutheri Beklemischev 1927, Macrostomum stepposus Rogozin 2012, Gieysztoria sibirica (Plotnikow 1905), Typhloplanella opaca Nasonov 1923 & Strongylostoma cirratum Beklemischev 1921). The morphological features of these species are described; comments on their nomenclature and geographical distribution are given.
