Graff (1882) considers this species to be identical to Proxenetes flabellifer Jensen, 1878. Den Hartog (1964: p. 403) points that to be a mistake, and coins a new species name for Levinsen's species. This, however, is a wrong nomenclatural action according to the rules of the code, as both species are in different genera. Hence the name "Ceratopera levinsini'" should be replaced by "Ceratopera flabellifera".
