Validity The erection of the genus Archimacrostomum by Ferguson (1954), was immediately rejected by Papi (1959) and Ax (1959), and this rejection was further supported by Schmidt & Sopott-Ehlers (1976), Schärer et al. (2011), and Schockaert (2014). Since the name has still sometimes appeared, it was again clarified by Brand et al. (2022) that Archimacrostomum is a synonym of Macrostomum.[details]
