Validity The erection of the genus Archimacrostomum by Ferguson (1954) , was immediately rejected by Papi (1959) and Ax (1959) , and this rejection was further supported by Schmidt & Sopott-Ehlers (1976) , Schärer et al. (2011) , and Schockaert . Since the name has still sometimes appeared, it was again clarified by Brand et al. (2022) that Archimacrostomum is a synonym of Macrostomum.
