Etymology "The genus name is derived from Greek δράκων (drako, dragon), and from Greek φυης (phyes), a commonly used suffix in many allomalorhagid genus names.
According to the International Code of Zoological Nomenclature, and to avoid misunderstanding between the two genera within Dracoderidae in future contributions, we suggest that the new genus is abbreviated as Dp. and Dracoderes be abbreviated as Dd." [details]
