World Register of marine Cave Species (WoRCS)

Last week (23 September 2016), the WoRCS initiative was presented at the White Sea Biological Station by Alejandro Martínez.
The seminar was entitled “What can we learn about evolution using comparative phylogenetic methods? The origin of marine cave fauna as an example” and was attended by approximately 30 WSBS researchers and students.
The WoRCS initiative was introduced as a valuable tool to obtain distribution data on marine and anchialine cave fauna, as well as a source of ecological information that can be used in studies regarding adaptation and speciation of different cave species.
