Editor's comment Molecular data suggests D. hesionides is not a Chrysopetalid. However the author interprets his data differently. Quote (p.271) "Both analyses agree on the non-monophyly of chrysopetalids, because Dysponetus hesionides sp. nov. is sister to Syllidae and not grouped with Dysponetus caecus (Langerhans)." This seems to be a debatable interpretation, since the placement of the species in Dysponetus rather than elsewhere on morphology alone was the author's decision to make. [details]
Etymology Epithet reflects the great similarity of this species to members of the Hesionidae. To be treated as a noun in apposition, therefore as indeclinable, for the purposes of nomenclature. [details]
