Status Salacia Lamouroux, 1816 and Thuiaria Fleming, 1828 have at times been regarded as congeners, although they are currently held to be distinct. A key difference in terms of morphology is the presence of an abcauline
diverticulum or caecum (Millard 1975, fig. 81A) in Thuiaria and its absence in Salacia. (Calder & Faucci, 2021)
