The genus Ceratonereis is divided into 3 new subgenera: Ceratonereis, Simplisetia and Composetia. Special reference is given to the species of the subgenus Ceratonereis; 3 new species and subspecies of Ceratonereis will be described: C. (C.) brockorum from Guam and C. (C.) longiceratophora, C. (C.) perkinsi and C. (C.) singularis australis from Australia. The zoogeographical distribution of the Australian Ceratonereis species is discussed.
